Art & Craft
This activity encourages participants to use their 'artistic' talents to develop and maintain skills they already have. Their individual work will utilize a variety of methods such as tools, computers and cameras. This encourages choice, decision making, working together and social skills.

Many learners have great difficulty with fine motor skills and this activity encourages participants to continue trying things they enjoy despite their disabilities.

Leisure
Regardless of their disability, many participants enjoy leisure activities. At the Skills Tank participants are encouraged to use the 'Activity Hall' for a variety of sporting activities from football to basic exercise which in turn assists them with co-ordination, team building, communication and social skills.

Some of the participants are in wheelchairs, others have difficulty in walking because of their physical disabilities, whilst other have autism. The enjoyment and freedom of the 'Activity Hall' allows them to develop their gross motor skills.

Life and Social skills
Our participants may live in residential homes, independently or with their parents. Whatever their circumstance this encourages, through 'practical activities', the participation in 'daily living skills' such as cookery and healthy eating. This maintains and develops skills which make people feel valued within the family and society.

Some people, through their disability feel under valued or embarrassed because of things they can no longer do. These sessions will increase a participants’ confidence.

Healthy Living
This activity links closely to Life and Social skills by informing participants about food preparation, healthy eating and health & safety within the home and kitchen. These 'transferable skills' will help individuals in their home environment and enable more involvement in everyday family activities.

ICT and Basic skills
Information communication technology (ICT) and Basic skills can be very difficult for some of our participants. ICT can play a key role in helping participants to learn in different ways. Much of the Basic skills content is taught through 'practical activities' such as ICT, Arts & Crafts, Life & Social skills and Cookery. This avoids participants feeling embarrassed if they are unable to write or add-up.
Computers facilitate opportunities to carry out tasks in a variety of ways.

Gardening and Nature studies
Some of our participants do not have access to a garden. At the Skills Tank, access is always readily available, regardless of a person's disability. Growing plants, changing seasons, propagation and planting are covered by 'practical activities’. Involvement will relax and give enjoyment whilst working individually or as part of a team. Communication and Social skills will be enhanced.
