Horticulture & Nature

There’s something very satisfying about working with nature and here on our Horticulture and Nature course it’s just that – very satisfying.  You learn about the many aspects of gardening and growing all sorts of plants and you’ll gain recognised, accredited qualifications that will help you develop your life, living and work skills.

Everything we do is delivered in practical bite sized chunks taking the stress out of learning and making it fun. Your course has been carefully designed to teach you all about sourcing seeds to growing and looking after plants as well as creating hanging baskets and planters ready to sell.

You will also learn how a Social Enterprise runs, enabling you to understand how a small business works helping you to move closer to employability. Please note there is no pressure whatsoever placed on you to seek employment on completion of this course but it may help you find work if you wish to.

As part of the social enterprise approach you’ll be involved in the buying of items needed, management of resources as well as sales and marketing of the plants you grow.  The money made from the sales is then used to buy in tools, seeds, seed trays etc. ready for future projects you’ll undertake with your team as well as educational days out and social activities.

You will have fully supervised tuition from DBS checked qualified tutors.  They’re experienced in delivering individually tailored learning programs to adults with learning difficulties / disabilities, mental health or other barriers to learning.

Do rest assured that throughout the course, on-going tutorial support will be provided.  Care First will meet your needs, these will be identified during the induction session and throughout the course as well as from information provided by carers, homes and other professionals.
