We believe everyone has the right to learn
Care First is committed to providing educational services to adults with disabilities. Adults with disabilities have the same needs as everyone else. They do not surrender their needs for growth and development or for anything else because they have disabilities. Care First is aware of the need for comprehensive training in these often misunderstood areas in order to dispel fears and anxieties.

In addition to our main course we also give opportunities for ‘learners’ to have a ‘taster’ on a course, in order to decide with a key worker, if appropriate, if the course is what they would like. Class sizes are limited to 10 learners per class. We feel that keeping numbers at this level will enable us to deliver a quality service tailor-made to the individual. However should any particular course have more than 10 referrals a further tutor will be allocated, providing this class has 10 students.

The initial stages of our courses are to assist learners in adjusting and becoming settled with the staff. Ongoing assessments will be made to ensure that the learners receive appropriate training and support. Throughout the course, ongoing tutorial support will be provided. Care First will meet needs identified during the induction assessments, throughout the course and from information provided by carers, homes and other professionals.

The programs are designed, alongside appropriate accreditation, by Care First for Learners with a range of disabilities. These would include learners who may be perceived to have challenging behavior, who wish to receive Further Education appropriate to their needs, in line with the Tomlinson Report 1996. These courses will provide the learners with opportunities to undertake a course with learning objectives appropriate to individual needs, including access to a range of educational and vocational courses.
